The Art School offers morning and evening art classes for adults. The classes are run in a custom built, warm and friendly art school next to Jim’s studio. Students are taught drawing and a variety of painting skills. Classes are kept small for quality tuition. The classes are meant to be fun while at the same time there is a strong emphasis on learning. Some art history is also included in the classes.

Monday (eve), Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Morning 10am - 12:30 | Evening 7pm - 9:30

We run morning and evening classes, and students of all levels of ability are welcome. Whether you have always wanted to paint but never have, or are applying to art college or attending art college and want to learn new skills, we have something for you. Drawing, painting and various art techniques are taught in small classes, as well as some art history relevant to the work. Our students are all ages (17-70) and all backgrounds.

Whether you’re into portraiture, still life, or landscapes; whether you would like to learn to paint in the style of the Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Michelangelo, da Vinci, or Vermeer, or if you prefer the Impressionists such as Monet or Degas, or maybe you’re a Romantic and Turner is your hero, you will be at home with kindred spirits in our classes. Even if you have never painted and you thought Delacroix played for Real Madrid, you will be welcome (thanks Phillip)! The atmosphere is friendly. Coffee, a variety of teas and biscuits are supplied. The Art School is cosy and the craic is good.

Why not treat yourself to a couple of hours of “ME TIME” where you can forget the outside world and get lost in the world of painting in an enjoyable atmosphere under the friendly encouragement and guidance of an experienced teacher. You won’t regret it! Materials are supplied to new joiners. An annual exhibition of the student’s work is held in Galway each year.
